Project Description:

This project seeks to examine how academics and research associates give value to accessing scholarly information sources (e.g., journals, books, etc.).  This project’s research team will develop and adapt survey instruments to distribute to academic library staff and students at selected institutions in the U.K.  After the survey instruments have been completed and collected, the research team will analyze the results and assess the data regarding scholarly journals, specifically usage, usefulness and value.  This project aims to understand the “value of reading and the contribution that libraries make [which] will help inform library planning, collection decisions, and will contribute to the understanding of the value and role of the academic library by research communities, library constituents and funders.”
